Artist Statement: My project's idea was to have a busy homework session and then when all of that is done, want to draw but not find motivation and fall into a daydream/sleep. When awake, I start a new project to make the dream a reality. I originally planned to animate WAY more than what is seen but I underestimated how long it would take to properly animate body movements and how long the different phases of animation would take. Honestly, I think this is where this project suffered the most, and I'm ultimately not that happy with it, despite how excited I was to work on it. During the process of animating, I started being really picky about a lot that I was doing and scrapped a lot of animation that I should’ve kept just for the purpose of having more animation. I also shouldn’t use after effects as well. In fact, I feel like I had better visually appealing animation when it was in the rough phase. The ending after I finished felt like I rushed it a bit, so I feel like the opening was the strongest part of this project.
So in conclusion, this is definitely not my best work and I should’ve been more solid and straightforward with my work rather than trying to perfect something I had a small deadline on (especially since this is the most hand-drawn animation I’ve ever done). If I were to do something different it would be to flush out my storyboard more, rather than wanting to make changes to it halfway through the animation process. Wish I could say I had fun with it, but I ended up stressing myself out more than I should have haha.
