The article discusses the importance of visual literacy in the modern world, often referred to as the "Bain d' Images" era, where visual media plays a pervasive role in shaping our perceptions, attitudes, and values. It points out that the flood of visual messages from various sources, including television, the internet, and advertising, influences our post-modern present. Because everyone is almost always behind a screen, people's perceptions can be easily manipulated.

The author argues that the culture we call postmodernism is best understood visually and that new ways of interpreting and understanding the world are needed due to the dominance of visual culture. However, many people fail to acknowledge visual culture’s influence on their everyday lives or in some cases are even completely oblivious to it. Because of this lack of awareness counterproductive effects are expected from engagement and interaction. The passage suggests that formal training in visual literacy is necessary to empower people to navigate this visual-dominated world.

The text also discusses the impact of digital technology on the nature of learning and the importance of incorporating visual literacy into education. It emphasizes that students need to be prepared to understand, create, and communicate with visual information, as it is now a critical skill in the 21st century.

In conclusion, I think this article rightfully highlights the growing significance of visual literacy in the modern era, the need for formal training in this skill, and its importance in preparing students for the challenges of the digital age and those yet to come.
